Over the weekend, I had a massive Internet Failure. Before I came along, the hotel had this company called Golden Tree install the internet. The hardware is rigged so that you can not reset anything manually, basically insuring that Golden Tree will be the only company that can come and service the machines! ...at least that's what they think! HA! Anyways. I jumped through the hoops and tried calling them for tech help but seems that through these few years Golden Tree was bought out by some other company. Okay, so I called this other company and basically I was going around in circles talking with the foreign tech who transferred me to the foreign customer rep who wanted to transfer me back to the foreign tech but because of my complaining was transferred to the supervisor which was not there for the weekend. By this time it was already 1hr into the phone call....at this point Golden Tree has become Golden Pee! WORTHLESS!
Long story short, I ended up taking out all Golden Pee equipment, went out and bought and installed my own Netgear Managed Switch which basically did everything that the 3 Golden Pee components did. Stupid Golden Pee!
Have I said how hard and difficult it is to be your own boss and run EVERYTHING?! I had to let a front desk person go the other day. It was the most difficult one yet. Then yesterday, I think I broke my stupid thumb! I was trying to open a valve for the pool when I heard CRACK and saw that my thumb was bent backwards....dumb thumb!
When I watch Donald Trump on The Apprentice, I really enjoy seeing how calm and bold he is to fire people. However, lately I don't like doing what Donald does. I hate having to fire people! I've already fired two housekeepers and about to let a houseman go, then there's a frontdesk clerk which I'm closely watching to see what happens....hope I don't have to let this one go for his/her sake!
Yesterday was horrible! I had to work the front desk from 7am to 3pm, then my FD staff was supposed to come in at 3pm to 11pm but she didn't show up because she was sick. I ended up having to do a double shift which totally sucked because I had not only FD work (checking in/out customers, reservations, other customer related issues) to do, but I had to take care of all the back office work! OMGosh it was insane! I didn't get to sleep until 2am that night.
Blessed be to God! I finally hired someone for the FD position! (you can ask me about him in person) Now lets see how my sales manager turn out!
